Supporting Trail Usage
Monday, 09 June 2008 08:04

During the past three years, the ACGA has grown into an interesting association. This was an idea from a group to start a community based association in Atlantic Canada around geocaching.

Our main goal is to build partnerships with various groups and support geocaching in the region. As the activity grows, there mightbe a point where there will be certain areas where geocaching might be allowed. Partnerships will be important if that day ever comes.

Spring Time Running
Tuesday, 27 May 2008 07:54

During the winter, I was asked to help out the 5k clinic at the Running Room as a group leader. This was a great opportunity to get back into a regular schedule and build myself back to 5k shape. After the 10 weeks, I had the chance to actually teach the Learn To Run clinic during the spring.

This worked out well since at the end of the 5k clinic I was hurting a little bit - I had some ITB and shin issues, the reduced kms would help me recover but still maintain the schedule of running 3 times a week.

The group was pretty large on the first night with about 34 registered. The group consisted of a number of young speed skaters who were taking the clinic as part of their cross-training routine. The only problem with a group that large is that the line is LONG to manage and the participants don't know all of the streets yet. So we kept it simple by running along a few low traffic streets.

Running In the Eye of the Hurricane
Sunday, 04 November 2007 13:01

Just quickly adding this before we leave the Crown Plaza here in Moncton. I can finally check off my list the following: I ran in a 5k race in the eye of hurricane Noel.

What a bunch of crazies we are...

OK, we're back from Moncton. The weekend went over very well, we drove up to Moncton from Halifax Saturday afternoon just as the first bit of rain was coming down from Hurricane Noel.

We were signed in for the 5k and 10k races for the Legs for Literacy race.
